Sunday morning updates for Week 3

Good morning, Fools.  Glad to see you again.

Here's what you need to know heading into the afternoon's matchups:

Ray Rice is expected to miss this week and next with his hip injury.  I like Bernard Pierce in his place, and I'm not overly concerned about the Texans' run defense today.  If Rice is your guy, you can feel confident with Pierce as his proxy.

Looks like a game-time call on Reggie Bush today, but I've got Joique Bell locked into my starting lineup either way.  Against the Redskins' horrid defense, Bell can soar even in a supporting role.  Bush has had some swelling in his knee, so there's a very good chance he'll be held out this weekend.

I wish I could tell you which back -- Jason Snelling or Jacquizz Rodgers -- is a better play today.  But frankly, I don't think either is.  The Dolphins are pretty good against the run and splitting carries between these two just smells like mediocrity from a fantasy standpoint.  Snelling might stumble into a goal-line plunge and Rodgers might break off a big one.  But aside from a single helpful play, neither is a worthy sub for S-Jax.

We should get our first look of the season at Lions' WR Ryan Broyles today.  If he can just stay healthy, there's no doubt he can supplant Nate Burleson as a starter.

Rob Gronkowski almost certainly will be inactive, but Zach Sudfeld is expected back.  You probably already dropped the rookie (as have I), and I wouldn't bother picking him back up now.  Even if he gets lucky this week, Gronk is expected back in Week 4.  Until Sudfeld shows us what he had in the preseason, he's not worth a roster spot.

That's it for now.  I'm headed to church and will be back in time to tweet the inactives (@ladd_biro).

Good luck today, Fools!
